A new Redbus shuttle service between Amberley and the City is to begin from 31 January 2011. It will be trialled for three months, with a review in April. This follows a similar Darfield service introduced by Redbus earlier in 2010.

The service will depart from Amberley at 7.15 am weekday mornings arriving at the City exchange at 8.25am. The return service will depart the City exchange at 5.30pm, arriving at Amberley at 6.40 pm.

Fares will be $9 for adults and $6 for children. Stops will be made at Leithfield, Woodend, Kaiapoi, and Papanui (discounted fares to Woodend and Kaiapoi are available).

As this is a Redbus initiative I will be very interested to see how well this does compared to the new 740 Governors Bay service, given that the Amberley shuttle will run directly into the City and the 740 will require a transfer.

Oh, and from the team (all two of us!) we hope you had a merry Christmas and have a safe and happy New Year!
