Tram may go through CPIT

A new proposal to route the tram through the CPIT campus has been approved by the Council. This would seem to validate the claim that the role of the tram is likely to change in the future with the completion of the current extensions, as the Council and CPIT work together to make the polytech a major node for the tram.

Certainly, in my view, if they want students to use the tram to connect with the central CBD area and Bus Exchange then they will have to overhaul the fare system to bring it in line with the buses (…metrocard perhaps?). I have always found it interesting that the tram extensions run through a high density residential area, and retail and entertainment precincts, which contrasts with the more ‘tourist friendly’ surrounds of the current city loop.
